Baku, 24 November 2021 (TDI): On November 22, Jeyhun Bayramov, the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan with Chong Soo Park, the Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Northern Economic Cooperation of Korea.

During this interaction, both sides passed remarks on the bilateral relations between the Republics of Azerbaijan and Korea. They also suggested several opportunities to strengthening these ties.

THE MEETING

The meeting took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) in Baku, Azerbaijan. Both parties exchanged their thoughts regarding collaboration between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Korea in various dimensions.

Bayramov and Soo Park also discussed the prospects for cooperation in different areas, like infrastructure, transport, alternative energy. Both also discussed information technology, among others.

AZERBAIJAN MFA’S COMMENTS

Foreign Minister Bayramov noted that it was vital for both countries to increase the intensity of such reciprocal visits at the state level, as this would play a significant role in enhancing relations. He particularly stressed that Azerbaijan considered Korea to be a priority country in terms of economic cooperation, which is why these diplomatic exchanges felt necessary.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov then proceeded to elaborate on Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity as a consequence of the Patriotic War which took place a year prior. He explained to his counterpart, that the aftermath of this war produced favorable outcomes in the form of new transport links.

Additionally, he mentioned the infrastructure projects initiated from this resource. Azerbaijan participated in the development of East-West, North-South international transport corridors. This attracted attention from international bodies in carrying out large-scale reconstruction in liberated territories.

CHAIRMAN’S REMARKS

Chairman Park expressed his satisfaction with his earlier exchange with Ilham Aliyev, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. During this meeting, the primary issues of future cooperation were discussed.

Furthermore, Park also noted his confidence that this would give rise to stronger cooperation between South Korea and Azerbaijan. Lastly, both sides agreed to expand collaboration with international organizations as well as other common issues.
