Islamabad, 9 December 2021 (TDI): Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan, Dr. Geofrey Shaw delivered a speech at Pakistan’s First Water Week.
The High Commissioner through his Twitter handle shared that he was very pleased to speak about a climate-resilient future in Islamabad.

In his speech, he stressed helping people to achieve sustainability by making use of technology. He said that nature-based solutions like water harvesting and treatment are also helping communities to grow sustainably.
Australian High Commissioner also expressed that to tackle climate change an intensified global cooperation is required. While Australia has been supporting Pakistan to promote prosperity and to reduce poverty with enhanced stability.
Pakistan is one of the most susceptible countries to adverse effects of the climate change phenomenon. The country has generated growing sustainability and employment through providing trade.
Pakistan also received support from Australia to improve agriculture productivity and resource management.
Moreover, the aid from Australia engages the public as well as the private sector to manage constraints towards a sustainable future for inclusive economic growth.
This will also help to create jobs through trade and investment. Dr. Shaw is also committed to supporting through providing business opportunities and innovation to the private sector.
Water Week
Pakistan organized the First Water Week from December 6 to 9. The conference was organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology through the Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR).
They were working in collaboration with International Water Management Institute (IWMI) and CGIAR’s Water Land and Ecosystem (WLE) flagship program.
The conference was themed ‘Needs for Sustainable Water Management in a Climate Crisis for Indus Basin’ accordingly.
