Pakistan’s Field Marshal Asim Munir Reaffirms Strategic Partnership with UAE

Abu Dhabi (TDI): In a meeting on Monday, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) of Pakistan, vowed to deepen strategic partnership between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Field Marshal Munir met with Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and National Security Adviser of the UAE, where both sides discussed expanding bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors, particularly economic collaboration, investment and security engagement.

The talks also covered the broader regional landscape and reinforced the importance of close coordination to foster peace and stability.

In a statement shared by Pakistan’s military media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Munir highlighted Pakistan’s appreciation for the UAE’s longstanding investments and support to both the economy and security of Pakistan over the years.

He described this steadfast engagement as a reflection of the deep-rooted historical ties and brotherly bond between the two nations.

A central theme of the discussions was the assertion that the security and stability of the UAE are “an integral part of Pakistan’s own security,” emphasizing the interconnected nature of their strategic interests amid evolving regional dynamics.

This alignment reflects a growing trend in Islamabad’s foreign policy to solidify partnerships with Gulf states as key economic and security collaborators.

Officials on both sides also reiterated their commitment to exploring new avenues for economic cooperation and investment, pointing to the UAE’s position as a major destination for Pakistani trade and remittances.

Past initiatives, including proposals for a dedicated Pakistan-UAE trade corridor and discussions around joint investment projects, signal a mutual interest in deepening commercial links.

The meeting comes at a time when Pakistan is actively engaging with international partners to boost economic growth, enhance security cooperation, and attract foreign investment.

Just weeks ago, President Asif Ali Zardari completed a four-day official visit to the UAE where bilateral relations and cooperative frameworks were also discussed with senior Emirati leadership.
