ASEAN 2021 Brunei: 38th & 39th Summits


Bandar Seri Begawan, 26 October 2021 (TDI): Brunei Darussalam is hosting the 38th and 39th ASEAN Summits and Related Summits which kickstarted today. The Summits will be chaired by the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan (Supreme Head) of Brunei Darussalam,  Hassanal Bolkiah as Chair of ASEAN 2021. The ASEAN members will participate virtually, via video conferences.

Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), gathered for the 38th and 39th ASEAN Summits on 26 October 2021 under the Chairmanship of Brunei. The Summits are as per the ASEAN Charter. The 38th and 39th ASEAN Summits and related meetings will last until October 28. Earlier this month, the country also hosted a virtual meeting between the ASEAN Foreign Ministers.

The theme of the Summits this year is “We Care, We Prepare, We Prosper”. It focuses on building a pleasant and resilient community with the people being the pivotal point.

The Chairman stressed in the opening session about the theme of this year. It will ensure the relevance of ASEAN through organizing and adjusting the people for the future. As a result, new opportunities through sustainable ventures will sprout, for the benefit of the people.
