Dhaka, 1 April 2023 (TDI): The Ambassador of the Philippines, Leo Tito L. Ausan Jr., presented his Letter of Credence to the President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Abdul Hamid, during a ceremony.

The ceremony was conducted at Bangabhaban, the President’s official residence in the fall of 31st March.

A brief discussion with the Chief of Protocol, Nayem Uddin Ahmed, and the Foreign Secretary, Masud Bin Momen, preceded the Presentation.

The presentation was preceded by a short meeting with the Chief of Protocol, His Excellency Nayem Uddin Ahmed, and the Foreign Secretary, His Excellency Masud Bin Momen.

Following the ceremonial parade and the playing of the “Lupang Hinirang,”.        Ambassador Ausan gave President Hamid his Letter of Credence as well as his predecessor’s Letter of Recall.

Moreover, President Hamid and Ambassador Ausan briefly discussed possible areas for future cooperation between the Philippines and Bangladesh in most focused fields including pharmaceuticals, agricultural products, and jute products, among others.

Ambassador Ausan also expressed his gratitude at the beginning of another half-century of strong bilateral ties between the Philippines and Bangladesh.

Ambassador Ausan also praised the liberation of Bangladesh in 1971. President responded that the Philippines supported Bangladesh during its Liberation War.

It is pertinent to note that the Philippines was among the first countries to recognize Bangladesh after its independence. The President of Bangladesh also paid thanks to the Philippines for their support to Bangladesh on every forum.

During the discussion, Ambassador Ausan stated that his visit to Dhaka was at midnight on February 25, 2023, a day after the Philippines and Bangladesh commemorate their bilateral diplomatic relations on February 24 each year.

“It will be engraved in my memory and will recall the significance and friendliness of the two countries’ bilateral relations,” he said.
