Islamabad, 11 August 2022 (TDI): Ambassador of the Kingdom of Netherlands to Pakistan, Wouter Plomp called on the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday.

During the meeting, both sides discussed enhancing trade and investment between Pakistan and Netherlands in various sectors including agriculture, dairy and maritime. Moreover, they also agreed to further enhance bilateral ties.
Foreign Secretary of Pakistan, Sohail Mahmood, along with other Ambassadors, and Pakistani Government officials were also presented during the meeting.
Apart from this, the Dutch Ambassador also called upon Hina Rabbani Khar, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, on Wednesday. They discussed the relations between Netherlands and Pakistan and appreciated its Positive Trajectory.

Previous Meetings
Recently, Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary, Sohail Mahmood, received the Dutch Ambassador for a farewell call on 3rd August.
The Secretary congratulated Wouter Plomp on the successful completion of his term and appreciated him for his valuable contributions to the country.
Further, on 2nd August, the Netherlands Ambassador had a meeting with Faisal Ali Sabzwari, Minister for Maritime Affairs of Pakistan. The matters of mutual interests, in the particular maritime sector, were discussed during the meeting.
Moreover, Ambassador Wouter Plomp also called on Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Qamar Javaid Bajwa, in July. The COAS appreciated the services and contributions of the Ambassador for maintaining strong relations between Pakistan and the Netherlands.
Pakistan and Netherlands Bilateral Relations
Pakistan and Netherlands established diplomatic ties soon after the former’s independence in 1947. Further, the Netherlands established its embassy in Karachi in 1995, and later shifted to Islamabad.
Moreover, both sides have always enjoyed excellent relations, that were based on trust, mutual respect, and common interests. The 9th round of political consultations between the two states was held in February 2022 to enhance the bilateral engagement.
Also, the two states maintain strong economic and trade cooperation. The trade between the two states crossed 2.3 Billion US dollars, this year.
