About China’s National Day

On 1st October 1949, Chinese Red Army leader, Mao Ze dong declared China’s independence which ended the rule of the Qing Dynasty.

In December 1949, China’s Central People’s Government Council ratified the declaration of adopting October 1st as the National Day. Since then, the Chinese people celebrate this day to mark the formation of the People’s Republic of China.

The festivities of the day begin with the Chinese flag raising ceremony at Tiananmen Square, located in Beijing.

The flag ceremony is then followed by military parade. In the evening, state dinners and fireworks displays are conducted to mark the day.
