Ambassador Linda Addressed the Global Citizen Live

New York City, 27 September 2021 (TDI): On Saturday, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the United States Ambassador to the United Nations, joined international artists and leaders at Global Citizen Live, New York. She addressed the top challenges facing the world, including Covid-19, climate change, and the refugee crisis.

Ambassador Linda expressed great pleasure over the public response shown at the Global Citizen Live in New York City & across the world. During the event, she also met with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle, respectively. Expressing her views on the world’s critical problems, Linda stated that combating climate change, Covid-19, and supporting the world’s refugees, are the United States’ foremost priorities. She emphasized that all the states must come together and solve these problems, particularly the Covid-19 pandemic, by making vaccines accessible to everyone. Regarding the refugee crisis, Ambassador Linda emphasized helping the individuals who have fled wars, natural disasters, and persecution in search of a safer and dignified life.

Global Citizen Live is a 24-hour global event that started on September 25 to unite the world against all the major threats facing our planet, including the Covid-19 pandemic, poverty and the hunger crisis, discrimination, and lack of education across the globe. The event comes as part of the Global Citizen’s 2021 global campaign, a ‘Recovery Plan for the World.’ Hailing from six continents, the occasion will feature worldwide performances, including from Paris, Sydney, New York, London, Lagos, Los Angeles, Seoul, and Rio de Janeiro.
