-

Washington, 27 September 2021 (TDI): Pakistan’s Embassy in the United States announced a Social Media Photo Contest on Sunday, as World Tourism Day 2021 approaches on September 27. The day is celebrated every year to honor the significance of the tourism sector on a global scale.

Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Asad Majeed Khan, has also urged the public to participate in the contest. The Embassy has instructed that the participants are required to share a delightful memory of their trip to Pakistan using hashtags #MemoriesofPakistan and #PakistanChalo. Following this, the participants could acquire an opportunity to get featured on the story of Pakistan’s United States Embassy’s official Twitter handle @PakinUSA, on September 27.

World Tourism Day is annually observed on 27 September to raise awareness about the significance of tourism and how it influences the economic, political, social, and cultural values across the world. The day honors the tourism sector for promoting cultures and heritage at the international level, besides the sector’s contributions towards attaining the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). According to the United Nations Organization, World Tourism Day remains significant to date as the sector employs one in every ten people on earth, where for some countries, the sector even represents around one-fifth of their Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
