Islamabad, 25 August 2023 (TDI): On Thursday, Pakistan’s Ambassador-designate to Iran Muhammad Mudassir Tipu called on caretaker Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani ahead of his departure to Tehran.
During the conversation, Pakistan’s foreign minister emphasized the importance of its relations with Iran.
He hoped that the ambassador would take an active role in improving bilateral ties between the two nations.
A day earlier, Iran’s envoy to Pakistan, Amiri-Moghaddam, pledged to increase bilateral cooperation with Pakistan in sectors such as trading, counter-terrorism, and narcotics control for mutual benefit.
In his first public appearance, the Iranian envoy made a forthright address at the Institute for Policy Research (IPRI) conversation titled Iran-Pakistan Relations in the New Era.
Ambassador Moghaddam thanked the Institute for organizing an important debate on a timely issue that corresponded with the region’s and the two fraternal nations’ fast-changing realities.
Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of the two countries’ shared borders, saying that the Islamic Republic of Iran’s administration prioritized strong collaboration with surrounding countries throughout President Raisi’s term.
Moreover, he added that Pakistan has always been special to him as a bordering nation.
Muhammad Mudassir Tipu, the Ambassador-designate, expressed his firm intention to further strengthen Pakistan-Iran ties.

He stated his willingness to explore the full potential of their partnership in light of future geopolitical situations and raise it to new heights.
Furthermore, he emphasized the significance of Pakistan and Iran’s strong and fraternal connection, which is strongly founded in history, culture, and religion.
He recognized Iran’s long history of support for causes of justice and equality.
The caretaker Foreign Minister also underlined Pakistan’s commitment to deepening and strengthening this link, with an emphasis on improving commerce, economics, culture, and people-to-people ties.
