PM Shehbaz Arrives in Egypt to Attend Gaza Peace Summit

Sharm El-Sheikh (TDI): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif arrived in the Egyptian resort city of Sharm El-Sheikh on Monday to participate in the Gaza Peace Summit and the signing of a landmark peace accord.

The visit comes at the invitation of US President Donald Trump and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.

Upon arrival at Sharm El-Sheikh Airport, the prime minister was warmly welcomed by Egypt’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Ashraf Sobhy. Pakistan’s Ambassador to Egypt Aamir Shouket, along with senior diplomatic officials from both countries, was also present to receive him.

The prime minister is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, and Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar.

During his stay, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will join global leaders at the formal signing ceremony of the Gaza Peace Agreement. The event is expected to be attended by US President Donald Trump, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and several other dignitaries.

In a message shared on X, the prime minister said, “Alhamdulillah, I have arrived in Sharm El-Sheikh to attend the signing ceremony of the historic Gaza peace plan, a vital step toward achieving lasting peace in the Middle East.”

Expressing gratitude to the co-hosts, President El-Sisi and President Trump, he added, “We would not have reached this milestone without President Trump’s exceptional leadership and tireless efforts for peace. His determination has brought an end to the cycle of senseless violence and destruction.”

Prime Minister Shehbaz described the event as “the conclusion of a dark and tragic chapter,” urging the international community to ensure such atrocities never occur again.

He reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, emphasizing that the resilient people of Palestine deserve to live freely in an independent state with pre-1967 borders and Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
