Baku, 28 August 2021 (TDI): Bilal Hayee, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan, gave an interview about Afghanistan to Azeri-Press Agency (APA).

According to the ambassador, Pakistan strongly condemns the terror attacks at Kabul Airport, which resulted in the deaths of many people. In response to a question about Pakistan’s recognition of the Taliban, he stated that Pakistan is aware of the fact that Afghan people have suffered greatly in the last four decades. Pakistan has also suffered casualties and economic losses. As a result, Pakistan has a lot riding on Afghanistan’s stability. He went on to say that Pakistan’s objectives in Afghanistan are consistent with those of the international community. Another question was raised about the refugee crisis. He underscored that the international community must collaborate with Afghans to prevent the overwhelming migration of refugees. Pakistan will do all possible to assist Afghans seeking refuge at its borders, said the Ambassador.

Ambassador underlined that Pakistan has been vocal in raising terrorism concerns with the international community, including the United Nations. With the withdrawal of US forces, those in the power of Afghanistan should be responsible for ensuring that Afghan soil is not utilized against any other country.
