Ambassador Sadiq held a virtual meeting on Afghanistan

Islamabad, 6 September 2021 (TDI): The Special Representative of Pakistan for Afghanistan, Ambassador Mohammad Sadiq, hosted a virtual meeting. For the meeting, the Special Envoys of neighbors of Afghanistan including China, Iran, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan participated.

Ambassador Sadiq stressed the need for an integrated approach towards Afghanistan during the session. He underscored that all the regional countries should work together to tackle common problems arising from the current situation in Afghanistan. He further stated that peaceful Afghanistan would open prospects for economic integration in the region as well.

It is pertinent to highlight that since the complete withdrawal of the American troops from Afghanistan in August 2021 and the subsequent Taliban takeover, Pakistan has been utilizing every avenue in order to restore peace and stability in Afghanistan and the region.

Pakistan has been proactively engaged with regional and extra-regional countries to address the present situation in Afghanistan. They are striving to establish peace in the region.
