Jam Kamal Holds Meeting With US Trade Rep

Islamabad (TDI): Enhancing trade relations between Pakistan and the United States was the topic of a virtual meeting between Katherine Tai, the U.S. Trade Representative, and Jam Kamal Khan, the Federal Minister for Commerce.

Pakistan wants to deepen its partnership with the United States, and Jam Kamal highlighted that Pakistan’s main trading destination is the United States.

Agro-services with added value have the potential to grow, as stated by Jam, who also emphasized the nation’s impressive success in the agriculture sector, notably in dates and mangoes.

Katherine Tai commended the quality of Pakistani mangoes and acknowledged the country’s achievements, especially its agricultural exports.

In light of the high market demand, she also brought up the possibility of US beef exports to Pakistan.

While talking about topics of shared interest, both parties decided to improve their business ties.

It was confirmed during the conference that talks on agriculture, textiles, women’s empowerment, IT, and e-commerce would be included in the next Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA) meeting, which would take place soon.

Minister Jam Kamal extended an invitation to Tai to attend the October TEXPO in Pakistan. Tai expressed her interest in visiting Pakistan and expressed gratitude for the invitation to visit at the October 2024 TeXpo.

Tai invited Kamal to Washington to investigate commercial prospects further in exchange.
