Bishkek, (TDI): In a significant step towards enhancing bilateral ties, Kyrgyzstan and Belarus have formalized a new collaboration plan for the period 2024-2026.
The agreement, signed by Bishkek Mayor Aibek Junushaliev and Vladimir Kukharev, Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee, outlines a comprehensive strategy for trade, economic, scientific, technical, and cultural cooperation.

The medium-term roadmap, detailed in the agreement, emphasizes key areas for joint efforts between the capitals of Kyrgyzstan and Belarus.

It seeks to leverage the industrial, economic, and cultural strengths of both cities, fostering mutual growth and development.

The plan also includes provisions for organizing business delegation visits to further cement economic relations.

Despite these efforts, recent figures from the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan indicate a decrease in trade turnover between the two nations, which totaled $44.358 million from January to July 2024—a 30 percent decline compared to $62.992 million during the same period in 2023.

Kyrgyzstan-Belarus Ties

Kyrgyzstan and Belarus have been developing their bilateral relations with a focus on various collaborative areas.

Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established in the early 1990s following the dissolution of the Soviet Union.

Since then, both countries have worked on fostering political and economic ties.

The trade turnover between Belarus and Kyrgyzstan has seen fluctuations.

Recent figures indicate a decline, but both nations are keen on improving economic engagement.

Both countries have shown interest in collaborating on industrial projects, leveraging their respective strengths in various sectors.
