Tehran, 20 July 2022 (TDI): The seventh meeting of the Iran-Turkey Supreme Cooperation Council took place on Tuesday between Presidents Ayatollah Raisi of Iran and Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkiye. Other high-ranking officials from the two countries were also present at this meeting.
The primary subject of discussion in the meeting was the solutions to improve relations between Tehran and Ankara in various areas.

Discussion on Bilateral Relations
In the meeting, Ayatollah Raisi emphasized the serious determination of Iran to develop good relations with its neighbors. He said, “Iran welcomes the improvement of the level of relations with all its neighbors.”
The Iranian President described the relations between the two countries as positive and improving. He noted, “It is necessary for both countries to move towards the goal of 30 billion dollars in annual trade”. President Raisi said this goal could be reached with principled policies and the development of cooperation.
The two sides referred to the 60% increase in relations between Iran and Turkiye in the past year.
They also focused on interaction in the fields of building science and technology parks, cooperation in the environment, extradition of criminals, solving the problem of fine dust, developing cooperation in the fields of energy, economy, and sports, and facilitating banking and investment transactions.
Moreover, Iran announced its readiness to provide sustainable energy to Turkiye through gas exports. In this context, an agreement was made for Iran’s gas export to Turkiye for the next 25 years.
Both sides further emphasized increasing the amount of gas exported, for which the negotiations have started.
In addition, Iran’s concerns regarding the Aras River and the need to secure the rights of the Iranian people in this regard were also raised. And subsequently, it was decided that the issue should be considered in future consultations between the two sides.
