Urumqi, 20 September 2022 (TDI): The 7th China-Eurasia Expo was launched in Urumqi, Xinjiang, on Monday, where 32 countries with over 3,600 companies participated. The conference will end on Thursday.

President of China Xi Jinping affirmed China’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with Eurasian countries on the sidelines of the expo. President Xi further added that the expo could be used as a platform to enhance cooperation and raise levels of common growth and prosperity.

Congratulatory letter

Furthermore, at the opening ceremony of the expo on Monday, President Xi sent a congratulatory message. In the congratulatory letter, the President highlighted Eurasia as a region full of vitality and potential for growth and a key area for international cooperation in jointly building the Belt and Road.

Underscoring China’s commitment to make Xinjiang a core hub for the building of the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), Chinese President Xi expressed hope that all parties can take this opportunity to tap the potential of cooperation and drive toward shared prosperity.

Xi said that China is willing to work with other countries to promote the Silk Road spirit that incorporates cooperation, inclusiveness, and mutual learning.

7th China-Eurasia Expo

This year’s expo has the theme of “exclusive consultation, joint contribution, shared benefits and cooperation for a shared future.” Moreover, the expo also brought together heads of state and governments from other Eurasian nations. These leaders attended the opening via video link.

President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said, “The profound evolution in the global landscape, the gridlocks in international logistics and slowing of global economic growth have further underlined the key strengths of the Belt and Road Initiative.”

Tokayev further expressed the belief that the expo will contribute to the development of global trade.  In addition, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that the hosting of the expo highlighted the importance of China and the Eurasian region in promoting global economic growth.
