50th Anniversary of China-Iran diplomatic ties

Beijing, 16 August 2021 (TDI): China and Iran are celebrating the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic ties today. On this occasion, Chinese President Xi Jinping exchanged congratulatory messages with his Iranian counterpart Ebrahim Raisi.

Xi in his message mentioned that the establishment of strong diplomatic ties has resulted in the continuous strengthening of political confidence between the two sides along with mutually beneficial collaboration in many areas especially since 2016. The two states also stood together with each other in the fight against COVID creating a fine example of anti-pandemic cooperation, mentioned Xi.

Using the opportunity of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Iran, Xi mentioned that he respects the bilateral relations and is ready to enhance bilateral ties and cooperation in different fields with Iran.

Ebrahim Raisi, in his message compared the civilizations and relations of China and Iran to an old tree, which gets nutrients from a friendly interchange of thousand years and builds the groundwork for a broad strategic relationship. As the diplomatic ties between China and Iran have entered the 6th decade, Raisi mentioned that Iran is ready to build strong bilateral ties and deepen communication on pragmatic collaboration and expansion with China.
