US State Department statement on Afghanistan

Washington, 16 August 2021- (TDI): The US State Department gave a joint statement on Afghanistan in which the Secretary of the United States Antony Blinken stated that the US along with the international community stands with Afghanistan in this difficult time. They also affirmed that the rights of Afghans and international citizens who want to depart from their country can do so. Roads, airports, and borders will remain open and calm, and peace would be maintained.

The text further read that all parties now stand with Afghanistan during this devastating security situation in the country and will facilitate Afghans and foreigners there with a safe departure. The Afghani people have the due right of safety, security, dignity, and protection of human life and property. Furthermore, the international community and nations across the globe stand in solidarity with Afghanistan and are ready to provide them with any kind of assistance and support.
