Ulaanbaatar, 8 December 2021 (TDI): The 4th meeting of the Working Group on Cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) and the Government of Mongolia was held virtually on December 6.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, Battsetseg Batmunkh co-chaired the meeting along with the Minister of Macroeconomics and Integration and Member of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission, S.Yu. Glazyev.

Representatives of the two sides of relevant organizations participated in the meeting.

They exchanged views on hygiene, technical cooperation, quarantine measures, prospects for cooperation in the industrial sector, customs regulations, as well as issues of bilateral business cooperation.

The two agreed to hold a seminar on issues of mutual interest in the second half of January 2022. Also, they agreed to cooperate in the implementation and preparation of the seminar.

In addition, the Heads of Delegation lauded the progress of the joint study on the possibility of concluding a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the Eurasian Economic Union and the Government of Mongolia. Furthermore, it was reaffirmed during the meeting that the two entities will persist to work on the compilation of a joint research report.

Aside from that the two parties agreed upon the extension of the Action Plan for 2022-2025 under the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Eurasian Economic Commission and the Government of Mongolia, on June 15, 2015. A protocol was also signed at the meeting.

10th-Anniversary Conference of Online Freedom Coalition

Aside from the above, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, Battsetseg Batmunkh addressed the 10th-anniversary conference of the Online Freedom Coalition on December 3.

Battsetseg Batmunkh underscored that Mongolia, as a founding member of the Coalition, has been working closely with member states for the past 10 years for new commitments and visions, in order to promote and protect Internet freedom around the world.

She emphasized the significance of speeding up efforts to overcome challenges. Moreover, the decision to establish the e-Mongolian Academy within the framework of Mongolia’s goal to become a digital nation as well as the Ministry of Digital Development was approved by the Parliament.

The conference validated the Helsinki Declaration on an Open and Accessible Internet and Human Rights-Based Electronicity.
