Beijing, 13 January 2023 (TDI): On January 12, 2023, the President of China, Xi Jinping exchanged congratulatory messages with the President of Angola, João Lourenço to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Xi Jinping noted that over the past 40 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the two countries have always been sincere and friendly towards each other.
The President also underscored that the two sides had worked for hand in hand and rendered mutual understanding. Support is also seen on issues concerning each other’s core interests and major concerns.

Furthermore, Xi said that at present the two partners enjoy a sound momentum of development and bilateral cooperation in various fields. This has yielded fruitful outcomes, bringing tangible benefits to the people of the two countries.
Xi underlined that he attaches great importance to the development of China-Angola relations. In addition, the President highlighted that China stands ready to work with President Lourenço.
Statements made by Angolan President
Lourenço said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations, Angola-China relations had seen continuous development.
Additionally, mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields has scored major achievements with satisfying results. Likewise, both countries agree with each other on many international issues.

The President further added that Angola is ready to strengthen friendly and cooperative relations with China. They want to build a shared and win-win future with China.
Celebration of the Diplomatic Ties
A reception celebrating the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Angola was held in Luanda, Angola’s capital. The event was organized by the Chinese embassy in Angola.
Moreover, the Chinese Ambassador to Angola Gong Tao said in his address that China and Angola have always adhered to solidarity and mutual assistance, achieving fruitful cooperation and exchanges in various areas during the past 40 years.
On the other hand, Angolan Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Esmeralda da Silva Mendonca said that the friendship and cooperation between Angola and China are effectively fruitful, expressing the hope to further strengthen the bond of friendship and cooperation.
