Shanghai (TDI): President Asif Ali Zardari on Monday visited the Memorial of the First National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in Shanghai, accompanied by First Lady Aseefa Bhutto Zardari and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

The memorial, located in the city’s historic French Concession, preserves the original shikumen-style building where the CPC convened its founding congress in July 1921. President Zardari toured the site and its adjoining exhibition hall, which displays relics and documents from the Party’s formative years.

The congress, held 104 years ago, was attended by 13 delegates, including Chairman Mao Zedong. It marked the beginning of a movement that led to China’s independence, its rise from poverty, and its transformation into a leading global military, technological, and economic power.
