President Zardari Urges Deeper Pakistan-Austria Cooperation

Islamabad (TDI): President Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday emphasized the need to deepen Pakistan’s bilateral ties with Austria, particularly in trade, tourism, and information technology, as he met with the outgoing Austrian Ambassador, Andrea Wicke, at Aiwan-e-Sadr.

The farewell meeting marked the conclusion of Ambassador Wicke’s diplomatic assignment in Pakistan.

During the meeting, which also attended by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, President Zardari said that Islamabad attaches great importance to its relations with Austria and stressed the need to enhance trade and economic relations for the mutual benefit of both nations.

He highlighted the vast potential of tourism sector in Pakistan and invited Austrian investment, especially in alpine tourism, an area where Austria possesses considerable expertise.

He also underscored Pakistan’s growing pool of skilled IT professionals and suggested that Austrian companies could benefit from the country’s human capital in the information technology sector.

President Zardari congratulated Ambassador Wicke on the successful completion of her assignment and extended his best wishes for her future endeavors.
