New York, 24 September 2021 (TDI): Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, Yemen’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Affairs held a meeting with Linda-Thomas Greenfield, the Permanent Representative of the United States to the United Nations. Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak is in New York to attend the 76th UN General Assembly session.
The agenda of the meeting was to comprehensively discuss prospects of peace in Yemen. Bilateral relations between the two countries were also deliberated upon. Yemen’s Minister of Foreign Affairs underscored the issues faced by the Yemenis. The war and aggression imposed by the Houthi militias have created a humanitarian crisis in the country. He further enunciated his state’s stance, to work cooperatively with the UN to reinstate peace within the norms of international law.
Linda-Thomas Greenfield assured the US’ support for Yemen. She stated that the US would continue to support Yemen’s unity, territorial integrity, and sovereignty. Yemen’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Abdullah Ali Al-Saadi also attended the meeting.
