Beijing, 5 December 2021 (TDI): The President of China Xi Jinping virtually addressed the 3rd Ministerial Meeting of the Forum of China and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (China-CELAC Forum).

CELAC or the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States is an intergovernmental platform for political agreement and dialogue. It includes thirty-three countries of the Caribbean and Latin America, permanently.

Xi Jinping’s Address

Whilst addressing the forum, Xi Jinping underscored that since the establishment of the China-CELAC Forum, the two sides have increased solidarity and collaboration along with advancing South-South cooperation, in the past seven years.

In addition, the two partners have endeavored to utilize the platform in pursuit of mutual benefit. Furthermore, the China-CELAC relations possess inherent openness, equality, innovation mutual benefit, and benefits for the people.

Chinese President highlighted that the present-day world is experiencing turbulent changes. Moreover, China and CELAC both face new challenges to promote post-pandemic recovery as well as ensuring their people’s happiness.

He welcomed CELAC to diligently engage in the Global Development Initiative (GDI). The two partners can jointly create opportunities, overcome difficulties, and formulate a community with a shared tomorrow for global progress.

Xi Jinping emphasized that justice and fairness, peaceful development, and win-win cooperation is the way forward for mankind. Both CELAC and China are developing countries as well as extensive cooperative partners.

He urged the participants to jointly draft a blueprint for China-CELAC relations, make new contributions to enhancing the well-being of the two peoples, add momentum to China-CELAC cooperation, and induce human progress.

China-CELAC is the Forum of China and Community of Latin American and the Caribbean States. In Spanish, it is abbreviated as Foro ChinaCELAC whereas it’s China-CELAC Forum, in English.

It was established in 2014 when Xi Jinping attended the China-Latin America and the Caribbean Summit hosted in Brasilia. The Summit adopted a Joint Statement announcing the official establishment of the China-CELAC Forum.
