Washington, 20 April 2023 (TDI): The World Bank Group – IMF Annual Meetings 2023 will take place in person from Monday, October 9 to Sunday October 15 in Marrakech, Morocco.
The Annual Meetings are held for 2 consecutive years at IMF headquarters in Washington, DC and every third year in one of the member countries.
In her opening remarks at the Spring Meetings Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of IMF News said, “The Road to Marrakech starts right here, right now!”
Whereas Fettah Nadia Minister of Economy and Finance expressed her gratitude and announced that Morocco is ready to host the world in October in Marrakech. She also said that it has been started formally now during the magnificent spring meetings.

In these meetings the members of World Bank Group (WBG) and the Boards of Governors of IMF meet to discuss the work of their respective institution.
The Meetings bring together central bankers, ministers of finance and development, private sector executives, civil society, media and academics to discuss issues of global concern.
The issues including the world economic outlook, global financial stability, poverty eradication, inclusive economic growth and job creation, climate change, and others are of great global concern.
The 2023 Annual Meetings will held on a site of Bab Ighli, Marrakech. The site of Bab Ighli, has already hosted several events including the COP22 in November 2016 as well as the United Nations Summit on Migration in December 2018.
Morocco integrated the sustainable development goals into it’s economic and social development policies at a very early stage. It has made significant progress particularly in improving living conditions of the population, facilitating access to basic services and developing the infrastructure.
At the Annual Meetings there will be an official signing ceremony for the 2026 Meetings in Thailand. The 2026 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group (WBG) will take place in Bangkok, Thailand, in October 2026.
It was decided in a vote by the Boards of Governors of the two institutions. The last time the Annual Meetings were held in Bangkok was in 1991.
