WHO launched Pandemic and Epidemic Intelligence Hub in Berlin

Berlin, 2 September 2021 (TDI): On 1st September, WHO launched a new Hub for Pandemic and Epidemic Intelligence in Berlin, Germany.

These Hubs are the fragments of the WHO Health Emergency Program established in 2016. The new center by WHO will be administered by Dr. Michael Ryan who has been dealing with critical risks to universal health like Ebola, Measles, and now Covid-19. DR. Michael Ryan is managing the position of prominence for over 20 years.

The initial investment for the new Center is done By Germany. Investment of $100 Million will be regulated by the Director-General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu. The WHO Hub is presently operational from one of the largest university hospitals in Europe Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin.

This initiative was taken by WHO intent to assist countries amidst of Global Pandemic. Through the hub, countries can have enhanced access to innovative technology and intelligence that will help them combat the threat of global diseases proficiently. WHO Director-General, Dr. Tedros said in a press release, that the world should be equipped with Pandemic and Epidemic Intelligence to reduce and monitor pandemic potential diseases.
