WFP is committed to provide assistance to Afghan people

-

Kabul, 28 August 2021 (TDI): World Food Program (WFP) is currently working in Afghanistan. About 14 million people are undernourished due to the combined effects of drought and the coronavirus epidemic. The impending winter appears to be making life even more difficult for folks living in remote highland places.

WFP is stockpiling food in warehouses and towns across Afghanistan, which will then be delivered to poor Afghan families before they are cut off by harsh winter snows. They urgently require $200 million in order to provide life-saving aid.

WFP provided food and nutrition support to 5.5 million people including many who had just been displaced by war.

The WFP continues to have access to the majority of the country despite enormous hurdles. They are committed to maintaining humanitarian activities with humanitarian partners. They are aiding Afghan families during this vital period.
