Voluntary Return of migrants from Mexico to Haiti resumes

Mexico City, 30 September 2021 (TDI): Ministries of Foreign Relations of Haiti and Mexico agreed with the Authorities of the Republic of Haiti to start the voluntary return of migrants established in Mexico to Haiti, on 29 September.

According to the authorities of Haiti, 70 people returned to Port-Au-Prince from Villahermosa. They were living in Mexico City, Hidalgo, Tabasco, and Mexico State. The relocation flights are part of the agreements of the permanent dialogue table. The dialogue table started on 21 September at the National Institute of Migration offices, between the Mexican Government and Haiti.

The goal was to meet the needs of the Haitian citizens that live in Mexico. This reaffirms the commitment for a safe, legal, and ordered migration, respecting human rights. Another objective was to strengthen the cooperation between Mexico and other nations that are in favor of the migrants.
