Beijing, 17 October 2023 (TDI): A memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Ministry of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technologies of the People’s Republic of China on October 16, in Beijing, aiming to fortify the cooperation in the fields of information and technology.
The Minister of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan, Sherzod Shermatov along with his delegation held a meeting with the Minister of Industry and Information Technology of China Xing Zhuanglun, during the first day of visit to China.
The meeting was held at the sideline of the 3rd Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation.
During the meeting between the two Ministries, the issues of further development of bilateral cooperation in the field of information and communication technologies were discussed
At the meeting, the parties exchanged views on cooperation in the fields of information communications and digital technologies.
As a result of that a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on cooperation between the Ministry of Industry and Information Technologies of the People’s Republic of China and the Ministry of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan was signed.
The signing of the memorandum serves to open up the potential of cooperation between the two sides more widely and to promote cooperation in the fields.
According to the memorandum, the parties agreed to cooperate in the field of infrastructure interconnection, communication network construction, 5G, network security, and information and communication technologies.
In turn, the introduction of new trends and applications in information and communication technologies, including cloud computing, the Internet, big data and open data, network security and data protection, data centers and other fields were discussed.
Also, the memorandum includes the exchange of knowledge and practical experience related to e-government, digital economy and artificial intelligence.

At the meeting, Uzbek Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov expressed his readiness to strengthen communication and exchanges with China,to support the implementation of the MOU on cooperation between the two ministries, and to continue deepening cooperation in relevant fields.
The Chinese minister, Xin Zhuanlun on his part noted that China-Uzbekistan cooperation has been strengthened in various fields under the joint leadership of the leaders of the two countries.
