Dushanbe, 17 September 2021 (TDI): President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with the President of Iran, Sayyid Ebrahim Raisi.
The meeting revolved around ways to enhance practical cooperation. Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed his delight at the meeting with the Iranian President. He referred to Ayatollah Raisi’s experiences and background in the judiciary, as well as the efficient fight against economic corruption.
Uzbek president said that the common civilizational and historical basis of the two countries can play a significant role in supporting the growth of economic and cultural relations. Adding that the two countries have a strong understanding in the sphere of political relations. An operational roadmap is required to enhance economic ties between Iran and Uzbekistan. The focus of the meeting was on the transportation sector as well. Along with making the north-south route active, especially with Chabaha port.
