Dushanbe, 17 September 2021 (TDI): The Foreign Minister (FM) of China Wang Yi and Indian Minister for External Affairs (MEA) Dr. Jaishankar met on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit.
Wang Yi was of the view that China has handled all the issues pertaining to India with care and positively. Both sides called for collaboration and disengagement on the borders.
It is pertinent to note that both countries confronted each other over decade long border dispute last year.
Indian MEA Jainshankar noted on Twitter that for peace to be restored on both sides it is important that both sides disengage and work on bilateral ties instead.
Also exchanged views on global developments. Emphasized that India does not subscribe to any clash of civilisations theory.
It is also essential that China does not view its relations with India through the lens of a third country.
