Washington, 18 September 2021 (TDI): US State Secretary Antony Blinken announced his plan to attend the 76th Session of the UN General Assembly High-Level Week, on Friday. Blinken expressed his anticipation for the event, reaffirming the United States’ foremost priorities_ effective multilateralism and addressing the global challenges.
During the session, US President Joe Biden will also deliver his first speech before the UN General Assembly since he took office, as announced by the White House earlier. President Biden would focus on his administration’s top priorities at the United Nations, such as ending the COVID-19 pandemic, combating issues associated with climate change, defending democracy, human rights, and the international rules-based commandment.
According to Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the US Ambassador to United Nations, Biden would also address the threats to global peace and security, including Afghanistan, Syria, Myanmar, and Yemen during his address.
The 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly will officially open on Tuesday, providing an opportunity for the participants to address the chamber, beginning the following week in New York City.
