ISLAMABAD, September 10,2024 (TDI): On Tuesday, the United States (US) has announced that it will impose new sanctions against Iran as Tehran supplied missiles to Russia for use in Ukraine.
The U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said during a visit to London that Tehran has received these ballistic missiles and would use them within a week.
The U.S. and its allies are preparing to impose new sanctions on Iran, including measures targeting Iran Air, in response to this development, he said.
US Sanctions
According to Blinken, Russian military personnel have already received training in Iran on the Fath-360 missile system, which has a range of about 75 miles (120 kilometres). The U.S. has warned Iran privately that such actions would represent a significant escalation in the conflict, he said.

Blinken criticized Iran’s actions as counterproductive to its efforts to restore relations with Europe and seek relief from sanctions. He emphasized that destabilizing activities would only hinder these objectives.
In a show of solidarity with Ukraine, Blinken and UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy will travel together to Kyiv later this week.
Lammy expressed his enthusiasm for the joint trip, highlighting the strong alliance between the U.S. and the UK and their shared commitment to supporting Ukraine.
