Washington, 6 December 2023 (TDI): The United States Secretary Antony Blinken met with Prime Minister of Romania Marcel Ciolacu in Washington, highlighting the importance of strategic partnership between the US and Romania in supporting Ukraine against Russian aggression.

The US Secretary appreciated the crucial role of Romania in supporting Ukraine against Russian aggression. In this regard, the US has continued to support Romania in terms of exporting things like wheat, and grain, which are so vital not only to Ukraine’s economy but also to the people around the world.

Secretary Blinken emphasized the US-Romania strategic partnership about the civil nuclear cooperation. Both sides have escalated their strategic relationship not only in civil nuclear projects but also with climate change.

Romania is relocating air defenses nearer to its Danube villages bordering Ukraine, where Russian drones have targeted grain facilities. Additionally, the country is increasing military observation posts and patrols in the area.

Two senior defense sources revealed these actions, which, along with the deployment of four extra U.S. F-16 fighter jets and an expanded no-fly zone, indicate escalating concerns within Romania and the broader NATO alliance about the potential spillover of the Ukraine war into its territory.

Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu Address

As accurately articulated, has consistently offered and will continue to provide unwavering support to Ukraine until it attains triumph over the Russian Federation. Romania congested its ties with the Russian Federation, some time ago.

Given the established partnership with Romania, there is a suggestion to also consider cultivating a special relationship with the Republic of Moldova.

Being the second most vulnerable country after Ukraine, Moldova is currently grappling with hybrid warfare targeting President Maia Sandu and the democratically elected government, in contrast to Ukraine, which is entangled in armed conflicts.
