Washington DC, 8 March 2023 (TDI): The United States (US) President, Joe Biden spoke with Sultan Haitham Bin Tariq of Oman to reaffirm the strong partnership between both countries.

President Biden and Sultan Haitham pledged to work together to create opportunities that benefit both countries and combat climate change through joint efforts.

The White House stated that this conversation serves as an important reminder of the close relationship between the two countries and their commitment to global security and stability.

Also, President Joe Biden thanked Sultan Haitham of Oman for his instrumental role in ending the war in Yemen and opening Oman’s airspace to all civilian aircraft, including those flying to and from Israel.

Furthermore, the US President also commended the Sultan for his country’s role in advancing peace and security in the region.

US-Oman Trade and Clean Energy Cooperation

For the record, the United States and Oman have close trade ties. US exports to Oman totaled $2.3 billion in 2019, while US imports from Oman totaled $1.9 billion.

The US is Oman’s largest trading partner, with bilateral merchandise trade alone amounting to over $4.2 billion. Major US exports to Oman include industrial machinery, chemicals, plastics, and aircraft parts.

Overall, the two countries have a strong economic partnership, with trade and investment between them continuing to grow.

To mention, bot countries have been collaborating on clean energy initiatives to reduce emissions and combat climate change.

They have jointly sponsored research and development projects, such as the Desertec project, aimed at developing alternative sources of clean energy in Oman.

In the same vein, the two countries have also been working together to create green economy initiatives and transition to cleaner energy sources.
