Jeddah, 16 July 2022 (TDI): At the invitation of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, met with US President, Joseph Biden.
The President of the United States is on an official visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Following the meeting with King Salman, President Biden held a meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman. Several officials from both the US and Saudi Arabia attended the meeting.
Strategic Partnership
The two sides reviewed in detail the many shared priorities that contribute to the partnership between Saudi Arabia and the US.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed their historical relations and partnership. The bilateral relationship was established nearly eight decades ago.
In addition, both parties underscored the importance of continuing to strengthen their strategic partnership.
This is to serve the interests of both countries. The two sides also emphasized the pivotal role this historic partnership has played in promoting regional stability and prosperity.
The two sides also affirmed the importance of resolving international disputes through peaceful and diplomatic means. They affirmed the importance of the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Energy, Security, and Climate Cooperation
The two sides underscored the importance of strategic economic and investment cooperation, particularly in light of the current crisis in Ukraine and its consequences.
The US welcomed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to supporting global oil markets and balancing for sustained economic growth.
Furthermore, the US side also commended the Saudi Green Initiative and welcomed Saudi Arabia’s participation at the recent Major Economies Forum.
As a result, the US lauded the Saudi Kingdom’s announcement to meet fifty percent of its electricity generation from renewables by 2030.
Security and Defense
President Biden strongly affirmed the United States’ continued commitment to supporting Saudi Arabia’s security and territorial defense.
The US President also affirmed facilitating the Kingdom’s ability to obtain the necessary capabilities to defend its people and territory against external threats.
The two sides underscored the need to further deter Iran’s interference in the internal affairs of other countries. They stressed the need for support to curb terrorism through its armed proxies.
Both sides also stressed the importance of preserving the free flow of commerce through international waterways like the Strait of Hormuz.
They welcomed Saudi Arabia’s assumption of command of Combined Task Force 150. The task force reinforces shared maritime security objectives.
In this context, the United States also emphasized the growing cooperation between the Royal Saudi Naval Forces and the U.S. Fifth Fleet’s Task Force 59.
The US emphasized that this cooperation will improve maritime security and domain awareness in support of regional security.
Space Exploration
The two sides further welcomed the enhancement of cooperation in all fields of space exploration. This includes human spaceflight, earth observation, commercial and regulatory development, and responsible behavior in outer space.
Vision 2030
The US welcomed the Saudi Kingdom’s Vision 2030, its blueprint for transformative economic and social reform.
Moreover, the US also lauded Vision 2030’s aim of increasing women’s economic participation and promoting inter-faith dialogue.
The US side also welcomed the Kingdom’s bid to host World Expo 2030. The US also noted the importance for the region of hosting the FIFA World Cup later this year in Qatar.
