Islamabad, 12 January 2023 (TDI): The Ambassador of the United States (US) to Pakistan, Donald Blome called on the Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari

During the meeting, the Foreign Minister of Pakistan appreciated the announcement of an additional $100 million by the US for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of flood victims at the International Conference on Climate Resilient Pakistan.

The Conference was held in Geneva, Switzerland on 9 January and cohosted by the United Nations (UN) and Pakistan.

Aside from that, the two sides also deliberated upon facilities related to visa interviews for Pakistanis, during the meeting.

In this vein, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari underscored that this move will not only speed up the process of obtaining visas but will also increase public contact.

While on his part, the Ambassador of the US reiterated Pakistan’s continued support for the rehabilitation of the victims of the disastrous 2022 flood.

Pakistan-US Ties

Pakistan and the United States enjoy close diplomatic ties. Following Pakistan’s independence in 1947, the US established diplomatic relations with the country.

The two collaborate closely on a wide range of issues, including energy, trade and investment, health, clean energy, and combating climate change, as well as Afghanistan stabilization and counterterrorism.
