Sarajevo, 13 January 2022(TDI): Bosnia and Herzegovina received vaccines of COVID-19 from the United States of America. According to the Department of State spokesperson, Ned Price is the latest delivery of vaccines from the US to the country.
Along these lines, the US embassy in Sarajevo with Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Ministry of Civil Affairs welcomed the vaccines at their arrival on January 11. The donation of vaccines is an incentive made by the Covax platform.
Indeed, Bosnia and Herzegovina obtained 96,000 doses of COVID-19 Moderna vaccines. Besides, the donation is the expression of the commitment from the US to collaborate with Bosnia and Herzegovina. Mainly to help them deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.
Also, the Administration of President Joe Biden pledged to equitability distribution vaccines worldwide since they are producers of Covid-19 Vaccines.
What is Covax?
Covax is an initiative co-led by the coalition for epidemic Preparedness innovations (CEPI), the Vaccines Alliance GAVI, and the world health organization (WHO). Their service is to donate vaccines to every state of the world, necessarily to the more vulnerable ones.
Bilateral Relationship
On the other hand, the evolution of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United States relationship has been constructive and stable. The US recognized Bosnia and Herzegovina on April 8, 1992, and their diplomatic relationship started on June 18, 1993.
Both Nations have their embassies in their respective countries, the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Washington DC and the US embassy in Sarajevo.
In that way, practical efficiency is one character of the bilateral relations between the two nations. For instance, both nations work together in defense counter-terrorism, crime prevention, trade, tourism, and economic cooperation.
Regarding their multilateral cooperation, both nations work through international organizations. They are member states of the United Nations, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Health Organization(WHO).
Moreover, the US and Bosnia Herzegovina work together to maintain peace and stability in the region. For instance, they interact in Central-European Initiative (CEI), Southeast Europe Co-operation Initiative (SECI), Southeast Europe Co-operation Process (SEECP), and others.
Regarding the defense collaboration, the United States and Bosnia and Herzegovina are friendly and mostly have cooperated through Armed forces exercises. Both states collaborate in bilateral agreements, State partnership Programs, Defense reform, and international military cooperation.
