Lahore, 19 April 2023 (TDI): The United States (US) Consul General in Lahore, Makaneole, hosted an iftar at his residence for 20 alumni of the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) who recently returned from the US.

The event provided an opportunity for the group to reconnect and share their experiences, as well as to discuss important issues related to climate change and air quality.

Ahead of Earth Day, which will be celebrated later this month, the group engaged in a lively and informative discussion about the challenges posed by climate change and air pollution, and how Pakistan and the US can work together to address these issues.

They shared insights and experiences gained during their IVLP program, which focused on sustainable development and environmental issues in the US.

Moving on, US Consul General emphasized the importance of collaboration and shared responsibility in tackling these global challenges. “Climate change is one of the most urgent and pressing issues facing our planet today,” he said.

“It requires a collective effort and shared commitment from all nations to find sustainable solutions that protect the environment and promote economic development.”

The IVLP alumni discussed various strategies and best practices for reducing carbon emissions, improving air quality, and promoting sustainable development in Pakistan.

They also explored the potential for collaboration and partnership between Pakistan and the United States in areas such as renewable energy, green infrastructure, and sustainable transportation.
