While speaking at the event, Nicole Theriot reiterated that the government of the US was dedicated to boosting relations between Pakistanis and Americans to encourage a more durable and profitable future for both countries.

It is pertinent to note that Pakistan’s textile and apparel exports to the US are among the biggest contributors to Pakistan’s economy. In 2021, Pakistan’s textile as well as apparel exports to the US amounted to $4.4 billion, increasing almost 42% from 2020.

Pakistan’s Textile Industry

Pakistan’s textile industry has a massive economic influence, accounting for 60% of the country’s exports. To survive in today’s highly competitive global climate, the textile business must update its supply chain, enhance productivity, and maximize value-addition.

The Textile Industry Division’s goals are to develop strategies and programmes to help the textile industry handle these difficulties and achieve global competitiveness.

Pakistan is Asia’s eighth largest exporter of textile items. Moreover, it is the world’s fourth largest producer and the third largest consumer of cotton.

It accounts for 46% of the total manufacturing sector and employs 40% of the working force. The stock exchange is home to 5% of all textile companies. Furthermore, the country has 423 textile industries in operation.

Aside from that, Pakistan is a major supplier of practically all man-made and natural yarns and fabrics, including cotton, rayon, and others. This abundance of raw materials benefits Pakistan greatly in terms of cost and operational lead time.

The Board of Investment (BOI) of Pakistan serves as a focal point for existing & prospective domestic and foreign investors, providing them with all essential information and help in collaboration with other federal and provincial government departments/agencies.‎
