US and Egypt collaborate on humanitarian truce in Gaza

Washington, 27 November 2023 (TDI): The US Secretary of State Antony Blinken spoke with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry about the successful initiation of a hostage deal between Hamas and Israel.

Additionally, these two leaders discussed a partnership in reaching to expand humanitarian assistance to Gaza in urgent need. Both sides urged mechanisms to pace up the urgent aid to Gaza to the maximum extent.

Furthermore, the US and Egypt also focused on the safe facilitation of US citizens and foreign nationals in the Hamas-Israel war. Secretary of State Antony Blinken focused on the significance of concrete steps to step down the atrocities on Palestinians in all of Gaza.

However, Secretary Blinken also highlighted the rejection of forced displacement of Palestinians. He also committed to forming a prosperous and peaceful Palestinian state with the help of regional actors.

In an unprecedented diplomatic initiative, United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken started a series of confidence-building measures (CBMs) during his strategic mission to the Middle East.

Focused on fostering a humanitarian truce between Hamas and Israel, Secretary Blinken engaged in high-stakes negotiations with influential leaders from powerful Gulf states.

During this landmark visit, Secretary Blinken and regional leaders reached a consensus on multiple conditions, laying the groundwork for a much-anticipated humanitarian truce. The collaborative efforts reflect a commitment to stability and peace in the region.

As a tangible outcome of these negotiations, Israel has released 150 Palestinian detainees, reciprocated by Hamas with the release of 50 Israeli individuals.
