Kabul, 30 September 2022 (TDI): The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) strongly condemned today’s horrific suicide attack on Kaaj Educational Centre near the capital city of Afghanistan.
The explosion took the lives of many young girls as well as boys practising for the entrance examination of the university.
UNICEF is appalled by the horrific attack, early this morning, inside the Kaaj Educational Center in the Dasht-e-Barchi district of West #Kabul, #Afghanistan.

The Horrific Incident
The brutal attack occurred inside the Kaaj Educational institution that is located in Dasht-e Barchi adjacent to west Kabul. The living community of the area is predominantly Shiite Muslims.
The attack took place around 7 am when a suicide attacker exploded inside the Educational Centre. According to the reports, bout 19 people were found dead and 27 injured in the explosion.

Among the deceased were the male and female students who graduated from the Educational Centre. Relatives of the victims rushed to nearby hospitals.
The authorities displayed the lists of wounded and dead on the walls of the hospitals. The witnesses and local media published awful visual posts that demonstrated the bloodied and vicious intentions of the culprit.
UNICEF’s Condemnation
UNICEF expressed its heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased. It also expressed good wishes for the speedy recovery of the injured and extended best wishes to all the affected families.
UNICEF urged all the parties that violent activities around educational institutions are unacceptable. The use of violence against children and young people is an inhuman act.
The children come to educational institutions to gain knowledge and skills so the place should be a Centre of peace where these children can have a safe environment.
Violence in or around education establishments is never acceptable. Such places must be havens of peace where children can learn, be with friends, and feel safe as they build skills for their futures.#Children and adolescents are not, and must never be, the target of violence.

At the end of the message, UNICEF urged all the parties to prioritize the safety of children and young people and emphasizes the observance of the dignity and protection of human rights.
