UNICEF concerns over Ethiopia’s Government Decision

-

New York, 2 October 2021 (TDI): UNICEF on its official Twitter account stated that the decision taken by the Ethiopian Government to expel members of the UN leadership team is regrettable and alarming. The Ethiopian government has announced the expulsion of 7 UN staff leading humanitarian and human rights work in the country.

In a series of tweets, UNICEF mentioned that they have been present for more than 60 years in Ethiopia. UNICEF has been present there working to develop and defend the rights of the most vulnerable children. UNICEF shows urgency as the humanitarian crisis in the country deteriorates and children are bearing its biggest burnt. It shows full confidence in the workers who are working on the ground to save children’s lives, guided – as always – by the principles of impartiality, neutrality, independence, and humanity. UNICEF further tweeted that their programmes will continue and their prime priority is to support the children, who are in immediate need globally.
