UNDP Statement on Afghanistan

Kabul, 21 August 2021 (TDI): The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) issued a statement on the ongoing humanitarian and development crisis in  Afghanistan.

According to the statement, the UNDP is concerned about the present trajectory of violence, instability, the COVID-19 pandemic, and women’s rights in Afghanistan. The Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme, Achim Steiner, urged the international community to continue supporting the Afghan people as they require development and humanitarian assistance now more than ever.

In the end, Steiner reaffirms UNDP’s commitment to addressing early recovery, COVID response, and preventing large-scale displacement in Afghanistan.
