UNDP Pakistan Publishes Annual Report 2021

Islamabad, 13 July 2022 (TDI): United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Pakistan published its Annual Report of 2021. The comprehensive report consists of the projects initiated by the UNDP.


UNDP has a long-standing and well-established partnership with Pakistan; thus, they have stellar achievements in 2021. The annual report recorded these achievements and included their vision. 

The Annual Report 2021

The report covers five main topics: Democratic Governance, Crisis Prevention and Recovery, Environment and Climate Change, Development Policy, and Innovation. Various achievements are discussed under the three main topics.

The UNDP Pakistan along with the Government of Pakistan launched programs beneficial to the youth of Pakistan. They have built a transgender protection center in Islamabad and also launched the first-ever Gender Strategy.

UNDP Pakistan has done an incredible job in areas such as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Young people especially women received vocational training and economic platforms. Hence, employment opportunities recovered after the outbreak of the pandemic.

Under Environment and Climate Change, approximately twenty thousand people in Gilgit Baltistan were able to access health care services. The forest department restored approximately ninety thousand hectares in Sindh. Therefore, remarkable progress in environmental restoration.

The Development Policy highlights the Sustainable Development Goals. Therefore, the focus was SDG 5 Gender Equality and SDG 11 Sustainable Cities and Communities.

Country Programme Document and Social Innovation Platform – innovative developmental programs – were launched. They launched a Circular waste model in collaboration with Unilever in Rahim Yar Khan; thus, focusing on SDG 7 Affordable and Clean Energy.

Henceforth, UNDP Pakistan has done a commendable job in achieving hallmarks in the five categories discussed. UNDP Pakistan Annual Report also includes the vision of working with UNICEF to expand opportunities and urbanize far-off areas of Pakistan.
