-

Manila, 15 September 2021(TDI): United Nations Women Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) launched a new funding policy for the Philippines.

UN WPHF issued a 1-million dollar fund. This financial opportunity will help the women of the Philippines in peacebuilding and development. Officer-in-Charge for UN Women Philippines, Carla Silbert, advocated the necessity of the funds for the women in the Philippines.

The women of the Philippines have faced significant hurdles and challenges. These challenges are part of their daily life.  Women security, injustice, gender-based violence, and gender inequality are some central challenges they are facing. The presence of Covid-19 has further threatened women’s security, peace, and decision-making.

Officer-in-Charge for UN Women Philippines Carla Silbert said that this revolutionary fund is one of the many steps for the women of the Philippines. It is a tremendous opportunity for women organizations in the Philippines to participate in conflict prevention and encourage sustainable peace development.

Other than the WPHF funds, the government of the Philippines is also deliberating on the solution to overcome these challenges. The government of the Philippines remains a vital partner for the WPHF.
