UN Special Envoy for Yemen visits Saudi Arabia


Riyadh, 5 October 2021 (TDI): On Tuesday, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan met with the UN Special Envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg. 

The Saudi Press Agency reported that the meeting took place at the headquarters of the Arab Coalition. Last week, Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman affirmed the Kingdom’s desire to end Yemen’s conflict. 

UN Envoy Hans Grundberg confirms the Kingdom’s plans and suggested that a comprehensive ceasefire is needed, under UN supervision. Moreover, Grundberg highlighted that the priority is continuing to provide humanitarian aid to the vulnerable population. 

The Kingdom is having constant diplomatic visits to address the Yemen issue. Yesterday, Foreign Minister H.H Prince received the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, Josep Borrell. The purpose of the diplomatic initiative was to cover an integral dimension of foreign relations for both actors. 

Saudi Arabia continues its pivotal role in ending the conflict in Yemen.
