The G7 countries include three nuclear countries the United States, the United Kingdom, and France while the remaining are protected under nuclear umbrellas.

In 2022 the Secretary-General attended the ceremony in Hiroshima to mark the atomic bombing’s anniversary and urged the nuclear armed countries to adopt the policy of “no first use”.

He also said that North Korean missile tests are “unacceptable” and that the country’s possession of nuclear weapons is “totally intolerable”.

He stressed the need of G7 and China to cooperate with each other and warned against the division of the world between a Chinese-led bloc and a US-led alliance.

Commenting on a question regarding the 60-Day extension of the UN-brokered Black Sea Grain Deal the UN chief said that UN would do everything to minimize the impact of the war in Ukraine and also said that he feels that “peace is not in the immediate horizon” in Ukraine’s conflict with Russia.
