UN Pakistan shares a memory of Pakistan being accepted to membership in the UN

Islamabad, 1 October 2021 (TDI): UN Pakistan celebrates the memory of Pakistan admitting to membership in the United Nations with Yemen on 30th September 1947. At that time, Pakistan was approved by 53 votes to 1 in the Second Session of the General Assembly.

Pakistan joined the UN just over the month after it came into existence. The delegation that attended the meeting at the UN includes; M. Laik Ali, Abdul Sattar Pirzada, Mrs. S. Tassaduque Hassain, M.A.H.Ispahani, and Muhammad Zafrullah Khan – Chairman with two advisors M. Farookhi and Muhammed Ayub.

From that day onwards Pakistan play important role in UN peacekeeping operations and has been working with the global community in the campaign against international terrorism. Pakistan is one of the largest contributing countries to the UN peacekeeping missions committed to well-established international peace and security. Pakistan is actively working against international terrorism and extended maximum cooperation and support to the international community to fight this scourge.

The country is dedicated to a world in which safeguarding human dignity is the highest value and maintaining global peace is a sacred duty. Pakistan envisions a world that is free of hunger, want, and deprivation. It envisages a world where fair play and justice rule the affairs of human beings and inequality, war, and oppression are despised.
